Dracula
the true story
Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's
Dracula is a success of the year 1993.
The film was not a big one, but there
were very famous actors shown up and
the director's name is speaking for
himself. I have seen some reviews
about the film, but I haven't seen the
story of Dracula - the real vaivode.
So I decided to write an article about
this man, and about the legends of the
vampires. Things used for this
article: 6 videocassettes with 8
Dracula-films, a video-recorder, a TV,
3 books about legends, 1¼ l vodka, 3 l
beer. I hope you will enjoy this!!
It's just a little story of his life.
Vlad Tepes, alias Dracula (1432-1477)
Vaivode in Transylvania three times.
He was in prison from 1462 to 1474.
He fighted against the turks, but he
made some robberies in the cities of
Transylvania too. He impaled lots of
his enemies, ca. 40000 men (!). The
name Tepes = stake. His father was a
member of the Dragon Order (Draco
(latin) = Dragon and Dracul (rumanian)
= devil). He promised for the
cadgers, that he will free them from
all the suffering. He took them to
the barn, and set it on fire. In his
garden there was the impaled turks in
order. The essence of his personality
was the brutality. The book Dracula
from Bram Stoker came out in 1897.
Bram Stoker is the master of Dracula
stories. The name 'Nosferatu' is
equal with 'filled with hopes'. The
first film about Dracula was directed
by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, the title
was Nosferatu. There is another
Nosferatu which was out in 1978. In
Murnau's Nosferatu, Dracula is evil,
but in the 2nd Nosferatu Dracula is
just a victim, and his end is not
happy. There are ca. 50
Dracula-films. The classic Dracula
was Bela Lugosi in 1931. The newest
film is F.F.Coppola's Bram Stoker's
Dracula. The costumer is Eiko
Ishioka. Some of these costums were
000-20000$!!! Eike Ishioka got
a Tommy and a Grammy prize for these
costums. But, did vampires exist or
didn't? Yes, yes, these stories have a
reality ground. Once upon a time
there was rabies-epidemic in
Transylvania. These people can't
endure the light, and when they have a
fit, they bite their victim. They
can't endure the smells, so they can't
endure the garlic. The evil vampires
were just tragic fated people.
@IPeyeC
About the film: my first impression
was that it could be a better porno
than a vampire-film. The lead (Mina -
the girl) kissed for example: 3
girls, a monster, a dead man (when
Dracula died), etc. 85 % of the
actresses were topless. There were not
too much shocking parts (I said that
there were not too much shocking parts
for people over 10 years!!), so it's
not a good psycho-horror. But the
film is TOTALLY like the book. No
changes! If you have read the Dracula
by Bram Stoker, it's boring. But the
book is really nice! So the film is
cool too! The fx were nice too. I
can say that it's a cheap film, which
is better than other cheap films,'coz
Coppola can direct enough good...
If you haven't seen this film, go to
the cinema!
